Workshop: Gen AI-Powered Virtual Assistants and L2 Pronunciation Teaching: Exploring Pedagogical Possibilities

On Wednesday, 13 August, two workshops were held for English students and teachers on the use of virtual assistants with Generative Artificial Intelligence technology for teaching English pronunciation.

The workshop was led by Prof. William Gottardi, a doctoral student in the Postgraduate Programme in English at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC) in Florianópolis, Brazil. His research focuses on the educational applications of Artificial Intelligence in teaching English pronunciation.

The first part of the workshop addressed how AI Gen works, as well as its potential and limitations. In the second part, examples of educational uses were presented.

)Participants evaluated the event as highly relevant and enriching for their current and future teaching practices.
